Drunk driver sues city for poor roads: wins

Gwangyang: In 2005 a man with a blood alcohol level of 0.183 crashed into a median on the highway. He sued the city for substandard road safety due to faulty or missing impact absorption rods. Now, after a drawn-out tangle of litigation, the supreme court has ruled that he will be paid 480 million won. The insurance company sued the city and Gwangyang City will have to underwrite 30% of the settlement with taxpayers money. Courtesy, Jeonbuk Ilbo.
